Carepoint education sessions utilize an adult learning - action learning education model. This encourages high participant interaction and includes a strong practical component for the best educational outcomes. The education sessions are responsive to metro or site requirements. High blood pressure affects a least one in six Australian adults. Many people suffer from high blood pressure and don't know it. High blood pressure often has no signs or symptom but is a serious health threat.
The important message of this session is "just because your blood pressure is elevated today, it does not always have to be that way". Understanding what blood pressure is and how it can affect our lives assists employees to make informed choices about their lifestyle. All people at work will benefit from attending this training.

The results of Australia Diabetes, Obesity and Life Study (Diabetes Australia) show that 1.7 million Australians have diabetes.. For every person diagnosed with diabetes, it is estimated that there is another who is not yet diagnosed.
Diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death in Australia, yet up to 60% of cases of type 2 Diabetes can be prevented. Diabetes Australia President, Dr Gary Deed has said "We need healthier cities, communities and neighbourhoods that are well informed about health and have the capacity to understand and make healthy choices." The workplace is an advantageous place for a diabetes awareness program.

The nutrition seminar is designed to give participants an understanding of what makes up a balanced diet. Participants will have a sound understanding of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats and how these come together to form each meal. Additionally important topics such as the Glycaemic Index and reading nutrition labels on food products are covered.

osteoperosis
Osteoporosis is a condition in which the bones lose calcium, become fragile and tend to break more easily. In Australia osteoporosis occurs in one in two females and one in three males.. As we age the risk for contracting this 'silent' disease increases as the aging process accelerates loss of calcium in the body.
This seminar aims to increase awareness of osteoporosis including the causes, consequences, treatment and prevention initiatives. Participants will leave with good understanding of the lifestyle choices that can reduce the risk of developing osteoporosis as well as a basic understanding of the treatment/rehabilitation process for bones already affected by osteoporosis.

This physical activity seminar is designed to give a basic overview of the effects and benefits of regular exercise for general health, prevention of illness associated with inactivity and the role of exercise as a weight control tool. Additionally participants will be educated on overcoming barriers to exercise and fitting in physical activity in their busy schedule.

scrub up to scrub out risk
Hazardous substances, harmful vapours and other substances can all result in industrial illness and allergic contact dermatitis. Illness and allergy can be avoided through preventative measures such as personal hygiene. It is important for all workers to understand how the risks occur and what can be done to avoid them.
Participants will learn the causes and measures necessary to prevent Industrial exposure to hazardous substances, utilising PPE correctly and to apply effective industrial hygiene techniques.

At the completion of this program participants will be able to identify the characteristics of nicotine that make it an addictive substance. Additionally, individuals will learn to recognise their triggers and how to overcome them. Information on the health consequences of smoking is also provided allowing participants to make an educated decision on their smoking addiction.

be safe in the sun
Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world with 1 in 2 Australians developing skin cancer during their lifetime. Melanoma is the most commonly occurring cancer in 15 - 44 year olds living in Australia.
This programme is designed to educate in the skin and the effects of the sun damage. Skin cancer risks and types are explained as well as preventative measures to this common deadly disease.
